Beijing proposes life ban for food safety crime

The Beijing Food Safety Regulation draft amendment,which is open to comment until 25 April 2012, states that anyone convicted of a food safety crime in the city will be banned for life.

Under current regulations, which were last updated in 2007, those whose licenses were revoked were banned from the food business for three years. Under the amendment, this would also be extended to five years.
