Sudan calls off launch of $1bn sugar plant

Last month, Sudan said the plant would be opened with an initial annual output of 150,000t that would gradually rise to 450,000t over three years, as part the country of efforts to achieve self-sufficiency in sugar by 2014.
Kenana Sugar is the biggest shareholder of the plant in addition to Sudanese firms and two Egyptian investors.
