More than 800 jobs to be axed in British bakery plants

2 Sisters Food Group, Gunstones Bakery and Utopia Food's Avana bakeries have announced plans to lay off more than 800 employees across its operations.

The job cuts are due to restructuring of the company after losing several key orders from large retailers.

Bakers Food Allied Workers union (BFAWU) organising regional secretary John Higgins said the company had planned to cut 112 jobs at Gunstones bakery in Derbyshire by September, with a further 300 jobs to go in January 2015.
