The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) published in theFederal Registera proposed rule, Food Ingredients and Sources of Radiation Listed and Approved for Use in the Production of Meat and Poultry Products, that would remove sodium benzoate, sodium propionate, and benzoic acid from the list of substances prohibited from being used in certain ready-to-eat (RTE) meat or poultry products.
