Vion strikes delayed after Sainsbury’s contract loss

Workers at meat processor Vion have postponed two strike dates in the row over pay and conditions after the firm revealed that it had lost a significant contract with retailer Sainsbury, according to Unite the union.

Unite told FoodManufacture.co.uk that its members at the firms Cambuslang site in South Lanarkshire had delayed the walk-outs for two weeks while they assess the impact the announcement will have on staff.

The union also claimed to have been hit on the blind-side by the news as
