Driven by the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA), 100 certified producers of 22 states will participate in Organic Expo 2015, which in its 14th edition will be held in the city of Mexico from June 24 to June 26.
Simultaneously, the ninth edition of Pescamar 2015 and Exporestaurantes 2015 will be held in the World Trade Center with the support of the government of the Republic, with the aim of promoting farm, fishing and aquaculture Mexican products.
SAGARPA stated that they expected buyers from Europe, Canada and the United States to attend Expo Organic 2015, where they will have the opportunity to meet more than 80 organic products, whose producers were summoned by the Agency for Services Marketing and Agricultural Market Development (Aserca).
To promote the products, Sagarpa has arranged business tables so that the visitors can get to know the characteristics of the food, which opens possibilities for producers entering these markets.
In a statement, the agency said producers had had sales of more than 3.5 million pesos and made more than 2,000 business contacts in the Organic Expo 2014.
Among the products to be exhibited are those derived from agave, stevia in its different presentations, juices, jams and sauces, honey, blackberries and grapes; plus some grains and seeds like chia, beans and chickpeas, and, of course, coffee, which is the main organic product of Mexico.
Agricultural goods that have been certified by the National Health Service, Food Safety and Quality (SENASICA) will also be on display as fresh organic products or as processed organic products.
There will be a stand of Senasica at Organic Expo in which they will provide information to farmers who wish to obtain a national hallmark of organic products, so they can certify their production processes.
Workshops regarding issues, such as Mexico and its organic products, will be held with the participation of officials from SAGARPA, Aserca and Senasica.
There will also be workshops regarding the approval of criteria for the certification of organic products in Mexico, the United States, Canada and the European Union, as well as support for organic production and national certification provided by the secretariat.
Under the Organic Expo, the National Commission of Aquaculture and Fisheries (Conapesca) will hold the ninth edition of Pescamar 2015, the most important fair in Mexico for marine and aquaculture products, where producers can contact officials responsible of national and international seafood marketing.
During the three-day meeting, the producers of the sector may establish negotiations with more than nine thousand food and beverage companies which together provide products for more than one million customers every week.
More than 50 fishing and aquaculture production chains, as well as companies that offer tastings of their products, such as tilapia, shrimp, trout, catfish, squid, marine flake, crab, tuna and sardines, among others, will participate in the exhibition.
Meanwhile, in parallel and also at the World Trade Center in the capital, the 2015 edition of Exporestaurantes, the most representative fair of the restaurant industry in Latin America, will be held.
In this sample, SAGARPA, through Aserca will participate with 110 producers from 22 states of the country, i.e. 20 percent more than in the previous year.
220 products that distinguish the Mexican cuisine will be exhibited, among them: corn distillates from Chiapas; Balancán pore cheese from Tabasco; gluten flour from Nuevo Leon; Queretaro table wines and sparkling wines of Chihuahua, and for the first time there will be craft beers of Queretaro.
The three-day event will include lectures on the importance of native maize in the traditional cuisines of Mexico, indigenous cooking techniques and a fashion show entitled Fashion in the kitchen.
The success of Exporestaurantes, that has year to year increased sales by 84 percent and that ensures placing the participant food companies in the national and international restaurateur medium, will be endorsed.
